While I'm not a mommy I know that many of my fellow Hairnistas are, and as we all continue on our journey to fabulous hair we can't forget about our little Hairnistas-in-Training. Here's a great line for you Mommy Hairnistas to try: Sofn'free n'pretty GroHealthy Haircare line. The first thing about these products that I love...no mineral oil or petroleum to clog their pretty little heads. It is full of goodies that I love: olive oil, shea butter, tea tree oil, honey, and vitamin E. All of these are great natural ingredients that I've recommended here at THC and I use on my own hair. I'm currently using the Temple and Nape Gro with Almond Butter daily to protect my edges from the wear and tear of my wigs and falls(I'm still a girl at heart so no jokes!) It leaves my edges insanely soft and moisturized. For those of us with "textured' hair (curls, coils, kinks, waves, etc) our edges can be a source of worry. They tend to be the area most prone to dryness and subsequent breakage. This product claims to help regrow breaking or thinning edges. Now while I don't have severe breakage, my right temple does appear to be slightly thinner than the left, so I will be watching during the stated 21 days it should take to see new growth. Another part of the line I'm trying is the Growth Oil with Olive Oil and Soybean Oil. It's nice and light and has been doing a great job of sealing my ends after shampooing and conditioning my hair. It has traces of garlic and rosemary and is a nice addition to your little one's product arsenal. It can be used on the scalp and on the ends of the hair. I've given some other parts of the line to some of my fave Hairnista Mommies and will be updating with their review soon. They will be trying the Olive Oil Growth Lotion, Thick and Healthy Olive Oil Cream, and the Shea Butter Damage Repair Treatment.
This line also comes with a very cute how-to guide called "The ABC's of Girls' Hair Care." It has a healthy hair tip to correspond with every letter of the alphabet. My favorite is for the letter "L." "Leave the curling and flat irons in the drawer. Putting heat on your daughter's hair too frequently will cause it to become damaged and weak." We could all take heed to this great advice. My only cons are my usual peeves with "ethnic" hair products...the smell. Don't get me wrong, they don't smell horrible or have that "medicine-y" smell, I just wish that more products geared toward people of color smelled more inviting. Overall I definitely recommend this line to all of our little Hairnistas-in-Training (and their brothers). Healthy haircare practices can never be started too early and this should get your little darling well on her way to turning heads like her fab mommy!
